Not everything you eat deserves a whole point. A sprinkle of chilli flakes, a bay leaf in a stew, a few sesame seeds on top. Lots of people count those as a quarter or a half, and Eating30 supports that directly.
The tap cycle
In Track Plants and on barcode scan results, each tap on a plant moves it along:
Full → ¼ → ½ → off
A small pie on the plant shows the amount. If you only ever count full plants, tap once and ignore the rest.
How it adds up
- Different plants add together. Four spices at a quarter each make one point.
- The same plant adds up across the week too, capped at one. A quarter of thyme on four different days makes one full thyme.
That second rule is deliberate. If you use a herb a lot, it ends up counting fully. If you used it once, it counts a little.
Siri knows it too
On iPhone you can say amounts to Siri: "Quarter spinach, half tomato".
Little Bit Counts
Your first quarter or half unlocks an achievement called Little Bit Counts. The name is the point. Small amounts count, as long as you're honest about how small.
Eating30 is an app for iPhone and Android that counts the different plants you eat each week, with 30 as the target. The core tracking is free. It's a habit tracker, not medical advice.
