Does Coffee Count as a Plant for 30 Plants a Week?

Most people say yes. Coffee beans are the seeds of the coffee plant, so by the "is it a plant" test, coffee qualifies.

But there are two caveats.

It counts once a week. Like everything else in the challenge, a plant only counts the first time each week. Monday's coffee gets the point. The other twenty cups don't move the number.

Some people leave drinks out. Their reasoning is that a drink made from a plant isn't the same as eating the plant. That's a perfectly reasonable rule if you prefer it. It's your count.

A middle option a lot of people use: count coffee as a quarter, the same way they count spices.

Logging it in Eating30

Search for "coffee" in Track Plants and you'll find Coffee Beans, filed under Nuts and Seeds. Tap once for a full plant, tap again for a quarter. Decaf, instant and espresso are all the same plant, so log them the same way.

If you'd rather not count coffee, there's nothing to switch off. Just don't log it. Or, if you want it gone from the list entirely, remove it from your plant database in Settings and it won't show up again.
